Associate Provost Budget and Resource Management
Elizabeth (Liza) Flores-Casillas, CPA, MBA, began working at UTEP in spring of 1992, during her last semester as an undergraduate student in UTEP’s College of Business Administration. While finishing up her BBA in Accounting, she began working as a student intern in our Office of Auditing and Consulting Services. Liza moved up the ranks in our Internal Audit department, becoming its first female, Hispanic Director in September 2000. She was then asked to serve as Interim Director of our Information Technology Department in January 2002, helping restructure and reorganize the Department. In June 2005, Liza was hired by then Provost Richard Jarvis as the Associate Provost for Resource Management, the position she currently holds. Liza returned to school in fall 2008 as a graduate student in UTEP’s accelerated MBA program and earned her degree in summer 2010. As Associate Provost for Resource Management, Liza oversees all fiscal-related matters for the Provost, including, but not limited to, budgets, faculty start up commitments, merit review process and the faculty hiring process for tenured and tenure-track faculty. Liza also manages space-related matters for the Provost and currently co-chairs the Committee on Space Allocation and Utilization. Liza provides leadership, training and support to the College and Division Administrative Officers housed in each academic college and other major divisions reporting to the Provost.
