Dr. Yang became an Assistant Professor in the Department of Kinesiology within the College of Health Sciences in fall of 2013. After he earned his Ph.D. in Human-machine and Environment Engineering (a.k.a Ergonomics) from Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics in 2004, he joined the Department of Physical Therapy at the University of Illinois at Chicago as a post-doctoral research fellow. In 2008, he was promoted to a Research Assistant Professor.
His research interests concentrate on biomechanics and gait analysis, particularly on human movement simulation, fall prevention, and stability control. He has been published more than 30 articles in prestigious professional journals, including Journal of Biomechanics, Annals of Biomedical Engineering, and Gait and Posture, etc. He also serves as the reviewer for many national and international professional journals.
